Add the beef and onion to a dutch oven or large sauce pan over medium-high heat. Cook, breaking up the beef as it cooks, until beef is browned and onion is softened, about 8 minutes.
Take the pan off the heat and drain the beef and onion in a colander. Return the beef and onion to the pan along with the crushed tomatoes. Stir in the crushed red pepper, garlic, oregano, 1 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp pepper.
Place a lid on the pan and simmer the sauce over medium-low heat, stirring often, for 15 minutes. Season with salt & pepper to taste.
