Mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickles and/or any other condiments you like.
DIRECTIONS
Lightly oil a cast iron pan and get it very hot over medium-high heat.
Form 3 even size balls from the ground beef and add them to the hot pan (you may need to cook your burgers in batches depending on the size of your pan). Press them down with a spatula just enough to flatten them a bit. Now top the burgers with the sliced onions and press down with a spatula to form a patty and to embed the onions into the burger. Generously season with salt & pepper.
Let the burgers cook (no more pressing necessary) until well browned on the bottom, about 5 minutes.
Using a thin metal spatula scrape the burgers off the pan and flip over. Cook until the onions are softened and burger is cooked through, about 3 more minutes.
Add 2 slices of cheese on each burger and allow to melt. Transfer burgers onion side down to the bottom of a hamburger bun. Add your condiments to the top of the hamburger bun, place it on the burger and enjoy.
