Ingredients
- 12 hard taco shells
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 TBSP tomato paste
- 1 TBSP chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, finely shredded
- optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced jalapeno, diced tomato, sour cream, etc.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Line your taco shells open side up in a 9x13 baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat breaking up the beef as it cooks. Drain the beef of any fat and return to the pan.
- Keep the pan over medium heat and add the tomato paste, chili powder, oregano, cumin, and onion powder to the beef and stir to combine. Cook, stirring occasionally, about 2 more minutes.
- pre-bake the empty taco shells in the oven for about 2 minutes. Take the shells out of the oven and sprinkle HALF the cheese evenly into the shells then add all the beef evenly into the shells. Finally top the beef evenly with the remaining cheese. Put the tacos in the oven and bake for 5 to 6 more minutes or until shells are crisp and cheese is melted.
- Remove the tacos from the oven and top with any additional toppings.
