Pearl Meatballs
An appetizer from China consisting of steamed pork meatballs covered in sticky rice.

Ingredients
- 1 cup glutinous (also known as sweet or sticky) rice
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup minced carrot
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 large egg
- 2 TBSP soy sauce
- 2 tsp rice wine

Directions
- Add the rice to a bowl and cover with plenty of water. Cover the bowl and soak for at least 4 hours. Drain the rice and spread out onto a large plate.
- Add the remaining ingredients to a large bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Form the mixture into balls roughly 1-inch in diameter. Roll the balls in the rice until completely coated.
- Steam the meatballs in a steamer or over boiling water for 17 to 20 minutes or until pork is cooked and the rice has a pearly white color to it.
