Sausage and Bell Pepper Orzo Pasta
An easy to make pasta dish made with orzo pasta, sliced mini bell peppers, homemade Italian sausage, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients
- SAUSAGE:
- 10 ounces ground pork
- 3/4 tsp dried oregano
- 3/4 tsp dried basil
- 3/4 tsp granulated garlic
- 3/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground fennel seed
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- PASTA:
- 1 pound uncooked orzo pasta
- 4 mini bell peppers, thinly sliced into rings
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- salt & freshly ground pepper

Directions
- In a dutch oven or large pot brown the sausage over medium heat until cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the cooked sausage with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Add the orzo, garlic, onion and butter to the pot, cook and stir for 2 minutes. Slowly pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring often, for 8 to 10 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
- Take off the heat, return the cooked sausage to the pot and stir in the parmesan cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste.
