Sweet & Smoky Beer Braised Pork Ribs

Ingredients

3 lbs bone-in country style pork ribs
1 onion sliced
2 TBSP cooking oil
12 oz lager beer
salt and pepper

Directions

1. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and generously season with salt and pepper on both sides. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Heat the oil in a dutch oven over high heat until oil begins to smoke. In batches sear the ribs for 4 to 5 minutes or until browned and then flip and sear 4 to 5 more minutes.

3. Take seared ribs out of the pan and set aside. Add the onions to the pan, turn down the heat to medium-high and cook onions about 3 minutes stirring often.

4. Pour in the beer and scrape the bottom releasing any bits stuck on the bottom of the pan.

5. Return ribs back into the dutch oven and pour in the bbq sauce. Bring to a boil and then cover the dutch oven and place in the preheated oven.

6. Cook ribs in the oven 1 and 1/2 hours then uncover and turn up the heat to 400°F and cook an additional 30 minutes.
