Onion Beer Brats
Servings: 2
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs Bratwurst, raw (about 5 sausages)
6 oz beer, lager
3 cups water
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp coriander
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp mustard powder
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp black peppercorn
2 tsp kosher salt
2 TBSP apple cider vinegar
1 large onion, julienne
1 TBSP canola oil
Directions
1. Put all ingredients except oil and onion in a pot and bring to a boil over medium high heat.
2. Lower heat to medium low, cover and simmer and 25 minutes or until internal temperature of the brats are 155 degrees F.
3. Remove brats and dry with a paper towel.
4. Heat oil in a cast iron pan over medium high heat and cook brats and onion until browned
5. Serve with Sweet Mustard Mayo and/or Spicy Mustard on the side.
