Servings: 4
Total Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
MEATBALLS:
8 ounces ground beef
8 ounces ground pork
1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 large egg
SAUCE:
1 tsp fresh orange zest
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2 pounds of oranges)
1/4 cup honey
2 TBSP soy sauce
1 TBSP rice vinegar
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 TBSP cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Directions
MEATBALLS:
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
2. Mix all the MEATBALLS ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Then use your hands to form small balls about 1-inch in diameter. Place the balls on a large rimmed baking sheet.
3. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven until cooked through, about 15 minutes.
SAUCE:
1. Add the orange zest, orange juice, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and crushed red pepper to a saucepan. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
2. Reduce the heat to medium. In a small bowl whisk together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water.
3. Slowly stir the cornstarch mixture into the pan with the sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until sauce is thickened, about 8 minutes.
4. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and stir until all the meatballs are well coated in the sauce.
