Beef and Mushroom Ragu Over Angel Hair

1 lb ground beef
8 oz white mushrooms, sliced
1 large yellow onion, diced
3 large garlic cloves, minced
30 oz tomato sauce
1 TBSP canola oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp basil
2 TBSP oregano
1 lb angel hair pasta
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese


1. In a dutch oven heat oil over medium heat until shimmering.

2. Add onions and mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes or until tender.

3. Add the ground beef, salt and pepper and cook while breaking up the beef about 3 to 5 minutes or until beef is browned.

4. Add the minced garlic while stirring and cook for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.

5. Pour in the tomato sauce and stir in the basil and oregano.

6. Cook until sauce begins to bubble then cover the pot and reduce heat to low.

7. Simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, then uncover and simmer and additional 15 minutes.

8. Begin cooking your pasta. Take ragu off the heat and let sauce rest for around 5 minutes.

9. Drain pasta and serve topped with the ragu and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
