Fresh and Spicy Black Bean Dip
A spicy black bean dip made from dried black beans and fresh ingredients.

Ingredients
- 1 cup dried black beans, rinsed thoroughly
- 2 medium garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 jalapeno, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- juice of 1 small lime
- salt
- tortilla chips for serving

Directions
- Place the beans and about 6 cups of water in a large saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
- Cover the pan and reduce the heat to medium-low, simmer until beans are very tender, about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Drain the beans then place them in a food processor or blender along with the garlic, jalapeno, onion, cilantro, cumin, lime juice, 1 tsp salt, and 1/4 cup water.
- Blend until smooth then transfer to a serving bowl and season with additional salt if needed.
- Serve with tortilla chips
