Savory Cheddar Cheese Cornbread

Ingredients
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
6 TBSP unsalted butter, melted
1 cup whole milk
1 large egg
2 ounces cup finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Brush a small amount of the melted butter in the inside bottom and sides of an 8x8 baking dish.
2. In a large mixing bowl mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
3. In a separate bowl whisk together the melted butter, milk, and egg.
4. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and whisk until all the lumps are gone.
5. Mix in the cheddar cheese until well combined.
6. Pour the batter into the baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 23 to 25 minutes or until the corn bread is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
7. Cool about 10 minutes before serving.
