Slow Cooker Lemon Chicken and Orzo
Lemony chicken thighs and orzo pasta prepared in your slow cooker. Easy and delicious.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds bone-in chicken thighs and/or legs, skin removed
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
- 2 TBSP unsalted butter
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 2 TBSP fresh lemon juice
- 3 cups water
- salt & freshly ground pepper
- 1 pound uncooked orzo pasta
Directions
- Place the chopped onion in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker then lay the skinless chicken on top.
- Mix the garlic, butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, water, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp pepper in a bowl then pour into the slow cooker over the chicken.
- Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 hours.
- Take the lid off the slow cooker and transfer the chicken from the slow cooker to a plate then use two forks to pull the chicken from the bones into bite size pieces. Discard the bones and return the chicken to the slow cooker.
- Stir in the orzo then place the lid back on the slow cooker and cook, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes or until orzo is cooked.
- Season with additional salt & pepper to taste.
