Turkey Meatballs with Braised Cabbage
Turkey meatballs baked then braised with cabbage and onion.

Ingredients
- The Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground turkey (ideally 85/15)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- The Cabbage:
- 3 TBSP unsalted butter
- 1 medium head cabbage (2 pounds), cored and shredded
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup water
Directions
- Mix the turkey, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, bread crumbs and egg in a large bowl with your hands until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into 1 to 1-1/2 inch balls (between 18 and 20 meatballs) and place on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Take the meatballs out of the fridge and preheat the oven to 425° F.
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a large saute pan over medium heat.
- Add the cabbage, onion, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper and stir to combine.
- Add the cooked meatballs to the cabbage and pour in the 1/2 cup of water.
- Place a lid on the pan and cook 15 to 20 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
