INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 TBSP unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg, beaten



DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Mix together all the ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Scrape the batter into an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until browned on top, about 25 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool then use a butter knife or thin spatula to cut squares of cornbread out of the pan.
