INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp plus 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese



DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large mixing bowl stir together the milk and yeast.
  2. Now stir in the flour and salt until well combined and a dough is formed.
  3. Use your hands to knead the dough while in the bowl for about 10 minutes (dough will be a little sticky) then form into a ball.
  4. Drizzle 1 tsp of the oil over the dough ball and flip around a few times to coat in the oil.
  5. Loosely cover the bowl then set aside in a warm place to rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Separate the dough into 8 equal size balls then roll each ball into cylinder shapes roughly 6-inches long and place them on a baking sheet at least 1-inch apart from one another.
  7. Brush the tops of the breadsticks with about 2 tsp of olive oil then sprinkle the Parmesan evenly on top.
  8. Set the breadsticks aside to rise again, this time for about 25 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  10. Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for about 14 minutes.
