Creamy Garlicky Buttery Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 4 TBSP unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- salt & freshly ground black pepper

Directions
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Stir in 1/2 tsp salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and set aside.
- Add the butter, garlic, and heavy cream to the now empty pot and warm over medium-low heat until butter has melted.
- Add the cooked potatoes and cream mixture to a large bowl. Mash the potatoes well with a potato masher.
- Taste the potatoes and season with salt & freshly ground black pepper.
