Homemade Butter Crackers
A homemade cracker that's buttery-rich and flaky.

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 TBSP baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 6 TBSP cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 2 TBSP peanut oil
- 1 TBSP honey
- 2 tsp poppy seeds
- 2/3 cup cold water, possibly a little more or less
- 2 TBSP unsalted butter, melted
- Flaky salt like Kosher or Sea Salt as needed
Directions
- Place flour, baking powder, salt in the bowl of a food processor and pulse to combine.
- Add cubed cold butter and pulse to combine.
- Add peanut oil, honey, and poppy seeds and pulse to combine.
- With the motor of the food processor running, slowly drizzle in the water until the dough begins to form a ball. Remove dough from food processor. Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- On a well floured surface roll out the dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut your desired shape (commonly circles, squares, or triangles)and place onto baking sheets. With a toothpick poke 5-10 wholes into each cracker.
- Place in the oven and bake for 8 minutes then rotate the pans and bake for another 2-4 minutes.
- Remove the crackers from the oven. Working in batches, brush 8-10 crackers at a time with melted butter and immediately sprinkle with the flaky salt.
- Allow to cool completely and then store in an airtight container or serve.
