Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Brush a 9x9 baking dish with the 1 TBSP oil and shingle the sweet potatoes in a single layer along the bottom of the dish.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, toss with the lime juice, lime zest, and 1 tsp olive oil.
In a small dish combine the salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, cumin, dried cilantro, onion, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Toss the chicken in the spices and coat well.
Place the chicken skin side up on top of the sweet potatoes in the baking dish and bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes or until the chicken registers 170 degrees F in the thickest part of the thigh.
