A Chinese spice blend of fennel, szechuan peppercorn, star anise, cinnamon, and cloves that incorporates the flavors of sweet, bitter, sour, salty, and umami.

Ingredients

  • 4 tsp ground fennel seed
  • 4 tsp ground szechuan peppercorns
  • 3 tsp ground star anise
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground cloves



Directions

  1. Add all the spices together and mix until well combined. Makes a little more than 1/4 of a cup.
