INGREDIENTS

  • 12 ounces beer of choice
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart vegetable oil
  • 10 large white button mushrooms



DIRECTIONS

  1. Whisk the beer, baking powder, garlic, salt, pepper and flour in a large bowl.
  2. Heat the oil in a dutch oven to 350° F.
  3. Dip the mushrooms into the batter and then carefully place immediately into the hot oil.
  4. Fry the mushrooms, a few at a time, turning to ensure even frying, until golden brown, 4 to 8 minutes.
  5. Carefully transfer the fried mushrooms from the oil to a paper towel lined plate then allow a few minutes to cool before serving.
