Ingredients
- THE DOUGH:
- 1/3 cup plus 2 TBSP olive oil
- 2 tsp (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 TBSP raw honey
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- HOT PEPPER RELISH:
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and roughly chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and roughly chopped
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup roughly chopped kosher dill pickles
- 1 garlic clove, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper
- THE PIZZA:
- 12 ounces shaved steak
- 1 TBSP olive oil
- 1/2 yellow onion, sliced thin
- salt & pepper
- 12 ounces white cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions
- THE DOUGH:
- Pour the 1/3 cup of olive oil in a large (about 14-inches in diameter) deep dish pizza pan and tilt the pan to coat the bottom and sides with the oil.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the yeast, water, and honey. Allow to sit for 5 minutes or until the yeast begins foaming. Stir in the flour, salt, and the 2 TBSP oil until well combined and a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead by hand for 10 minutes. Stretch or roll the dough out into a circle roughly the diameter of your pan. Carefully lay the dough circle into your oiled pan. Cover the pan with a plate or something heavy to keep the dough from rising over top of the pan edge. Let sit in a warm place to rise for about 2 hours.
- HOT PEPPER RELISH:
- Add all the relish ingredients in a food processor and pulse until everything is finely chopped. Scrape relish into a bowl and set aside.
- THE PIZZA:
- Preheat the oven to 475°F.
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions begin to soften, about 1 minute. Add the shaved steak to the pan and season with a little salt & pepper. Cook for about 1 more minute or until steak is cooked and take off the heat.
- Uncover your dough, it should have risen to the top or close to the top of your pan by now. Spread the relish evenly on top of the dough. Sprinkle on HALF of the cheese, Spread on the onions and steak then sprinkle on the remaining cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until crust is cooked through and golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
