In a large mixing bowl mix the flours, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl mix the buttermilk, egg, butter, and vanilla until well combined and the egg is beaten.
Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together until combined then stir in the chopped cherries.
Heat a griddle to 350°F.
Scoop the batter in 1/4-cup portions onto the hot griddle. Once the pancakes have a few bubbles on top flip them over and cook on the other side, about 3 minutes per side.
