INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 TBSP dried parsley
  • 1 TBSP garlic powder
  • 1 TBSP dried basil
  • 1 TBSP dried oregano
  • 2 TBSP red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 8 thin slices of provolone cheese
  • optional toppings: sliced pickles, mayo, lettuce



DIRECTIONS

  1. Add the ground beef, ground pork, onion, bell peppers, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper to a dutch oven over medium-high heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef and pork are no longer pink, about 6 minutes.
  2. Stir in the parsley, garlic, basil, oregano, vinegar, and water then bring to a boil
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has evaporated, 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Take the dutch oven off the heat then stir the Parmesan in with the meat.
  5. Scoop meat onto toasted buns and top with the provolone cheese, pickles, mayo, and/or lettuce.
