Italian Style Loose Meat Sandwiches

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 TBSP dry parsley
- 1/2 TBSP garlic powder
- 1/2 TBSP dry basil
- 1/2 TBSP dry oregano
- 1 TBSP red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup water
- 6 hamburger buns
- 6 thin slices of provolone cheese
- sliced pickles
- mayonnaise
Directions
- Cook the pork, beef, onions and peppers in a dutch oven or large pan over medium-high heat until meat is no longer pink, about 5 minutes, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
- Stir in the seasonings and water, bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until liquid has evaporated, 20 to 25 minutes. Take off the heat and stir in the Parmesan.
- Scoop meat onto toasted buns and top with the provolone cheese, pickles and mayo.
