INGREDIENTS

  • MEATBALLS:
  • 8 ounces ground beef
  • 8 ounces ground pork
  • 1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • SAUCE:
  • 1 tsp fresh orange zest
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 2 pounds of oranges)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 TBSP soy sauce
  • 1 TBSP rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 TBSP cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

DIRECTIONS

  1. MEATBALLS:
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  3. Mix all the MEATBALLS ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until well combined. Then use your hands to form small balls about 1-inch in diameter. Place the balls on a large rimmed baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven until cooked through, about 15 minutes.
  5. SAUCE:
  6. Add the orange zest, orange juice, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and crushed red pepper to a saucepan. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium. In a small bowl whisk together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water.
  8. Slowly stir the cornstarch mixture into the pan with the sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until sauce is thickened, about 8 minutes.
  9. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and stir until all the meatballs are well coated in the sauce.
