Rinse the rice thoroughly in a fine mesh sieve under cold water. Place the rice in a bowl, cover with water and soak for 30 minutes.
Drain the rice and place in a saucepan with 1 1/2 cups of water and the salt. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, over medium-high heat then reduce heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer on low for 10 minutes. DO NOT REMOVE THE LID AT ALL DURING THIS TIME!
Turn off the heat and let sit for 15 more minutes. DO NOT REMOVE THE LID AT ALL DURING THIS TIME EITHER!
