Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • 8 cups water



Directions

  1. Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly under cold water.
  2. Transfer the chickpeas to a medium size saucepan with the water.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. When water begins to boil place a lid on the pan and reduce the heat to medium-low.
  5. Simmer beans over medium-low heat for 60 to 75 minutes or until beans are tender.
  6. Drain the chickpeas. Makes 3 cups cooked chickpeas.
