Sesame Seed Soda Bread

A no-knead no-yeast soda bread made with yogurt, sesame seeds, and a mix of whole wheat and all-purpose flours.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour plus a little extra
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp plus 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 12 ounces plain full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 TBSP milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  2. In a large bowl mix together the flours, salt, baking soda, and 1 tsp sesame seeds.

  3. Stir in the the yogurt until well combined and a shaggy dough is formed.

  4. Sprinkle a little flour onto a baking sheet.

  5. Form the dough into a ball and place on a baking sheet.

  6. Brush the top of the dough with the milk then sprinkle the sesame seeds evenly on top.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

  8. Take out of the oven then transfer the bread to a cooling rack and allow to cool for about 30 minutes.
