Homemade Rice a Roni
A healthier homemade version of the San Francisco treat, made with jasmine rice, vermicelli pasta, dried herbs and spices.

Ingredients
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 1 cup uncooked jasmine rice
- 1/2 cup dried vermicelli pasta, broken into 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 1/4 cups water
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- salt & freshly ground black pepper

Directions
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Add the rice and pasta to the pan and cook, stirring often, for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in the water, onion, garlic, parsley, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper and bring to a boil.
- Place the lid on the pan and reduce the heat to low then simmer, without removing the lid, for 10 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit, without removing the lid, for 15 more minutes.
- Remove the lid then gently fluff the rice with a fork and season with additional salt & pepper if needed.
