Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1 pkg (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
Directions
- Stir all the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until well combined and you end up with a shaggy dough.
- Cover the bowl and let sit at room temperature to rise for about 8 hours.
- Place a dutch oven (without the lid) into the oven then preheat the oven to 450°F for 30 minutes.
- Use a rubber spatula to fold the dough a few times then place the dough on a piece of parchment paper and form into a dome shape. Let the dough sit and rise for 30 minutes while the dutch oven heats up.
- Carefully remove the hot dutch oven from the oven and lower the dough with the parchment paper into the dutch oven. Place the lid on the dutch oven and put it back in the oven. Bake for 35 minutes.
- Take the lid off the dutch oven and bake the bread for 5 to 10 more minutes or until well browned on top.
- Carefully remove the bread from the dutch oven and place on a cooling rack until completely cool.
